Erin O Donnell
Director, Government Engagement
Erin is the Director, Government Engagement for MxD. In this role, Erin is charged with the development and management of MxD’s priority government stakeholder relationships; to include liaising between the Institute and federal government partners, researchers, policymakers and overseeing the day-to-day government initiatives to continue to advance the Institute.
Previously, Erin spent six years at the Department of Defense’s (DoD) first manufacturing institute focused on additive manufacturing. During her tenure at America Makes she managed the R&D portfolio, Program Management process, Project Call process, filled in as the E/WD Program Manager and Acting Chief of Staff. In 2019, she was promoted to Director, Strategic Partnerships and Community Relations. As Director of Strategic Partnerships, Erin expanded and diversified partnerships and funding opportunities by adding two new Satellite Centers at Texas A&M University’s Texas Engineering Experimental Station (TEES) and Wichita State University’s National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR), partnered with the National Football League (NFL) to drive global awareness and commercial capabilities for additive manufacturing, and strengthened relationships with the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Commerce (DoC), Department of Energy (DoE), and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
Prior to Erin receiving her Bachelors in Communications, she served four years active duty in the United States Marine Corps with one tour in Iraq. After the Marines, Erin spent multiple years advising Senior DoD officials, foreign allies, and local governments in Iraq and Afghanistan. In her free time, she enjoys kayaking, golfing, traveling, and spending time with her family.
